The executive council shall appoint, subject to tribal council confirmation, a fishing committee to manage the fish program and upon accepting the position, each fishing committee member is required to take the tribal oath of office before the tribal council.

(1) The term of all personnel committee members shall begin on the first day of January.

(2) The committee shall consist of three persons, a tribal council member and two voting members of the general council.

(3) The original committee shall consist of a tribal council member as chair for a one-year term, a voting member for a two-year term to serve as chair during their second year, and a voting member for a three-year term to serve as chair during their third year.

(4) Subsequent committee member shall serve three-year terms and the committee shall always consist of a tribal council member.

(A) The appointee who is serving the third year of their term as a committee member shall serve as the committee’s chair.

(B) In the event of the death, removal or resignation of a committee member, the tribal council shall fill the vacated seat with an appointee, who shall serve for the remainder of the vacated term.

(a) If the seat that is vacated was the current chair, the committee member currently in their second year of service shall become chair for the remainder of the current year.

(b) If the seat that is vacated was in the second year of service, the newly appointed person shall serve as chair during the following year.

(5) The fish committee, fish manager and other participants of the surplus fish distribution program are volunteer positions and shall receive no compensation for their expenses or services and they shall not solicit donations for their services or expenses from members.
