The Land Title defines general management policies for lands owned by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe or any subsidiary or agent thereof. The Land Board, Land Technical Workgroup function to:

(1) Research and identify appropriate land use categories for lands under Tribal ownership or lands with potential to be owned by the Tribe.

(2) Provide an avenue for increased focus on land management related matters as a way to maximize services to the Tribal membership.

(3) Provide increased capacity and ability for the Tribe to acquire and appropriately manage lands.

(4) Provide better communications between and among Tribal programs and projects to enhance benefit investments and partnerships.

(5) Provide an appropriate avenue for managing lands under Tribal ownership or anticipated to become under Tribal ownership.

(6) Not take part in any official gaming lands management, as gaming lands are regulated under its own title separate from the Land Code.

(7) Not engage in any activities that conflict with in-place agreements in connections to gaming lands of the Tribe.

(8) Apply provisions of the chapters of this title liberally and to primarily promote its underlying purpose of land management interests for the Tribe.
